Earth Day 2015 Art Contest

Theme: “Go Green” by Recycling

This year, the EcoSangha is sponsoring an “Art Using Recycled Material” contest:

Prepare an artwork that uses recycled material. Art work size must be no larger than 11x17x11 inches and suitable for displaying on a wall or table. Any material (paper, wood, cloth, metal, etc.) and any media (pencil, ink, crayon, chalk, water color, paint, collage, etc.) can be used.

A written description (can be hand-written, typed or printed on a computer printer on one side of an 8.5 x 11 inch page, 250 words max) describing the artwork and material used must be submitted with every art contest entry. Teachers or parents may assist with descriptions for age 5 years and under.

Place your name, age and telephone number only on the back or bottom side of the art work and the separate description.

Age Groups: Separate prizes will be awarded to each of the following age groups:

5 years and under

6 to 10 years old Note: Age is as of April 5, 2015

11 to 14 years old submittal deadline.

15 to 18 years old

19 years and over

Prizes: Monetary prizes are awarded in each age category. All entries will be judged on originality, presentation, content, and appropriateness to the theme. First prize: $30.00; Second Prize: $20.00; Third Prize: $10.00.

Submittal: Must be original artwork created exclusively by the participant during the period 1/1/2015 to 4/5/2015. Submit your artwork and description to the EcoSangha Committee box in the Betsuin Office mailroom by 4:00 pm on April 5, 2015. No late entries accepted. Limit one entry per person. All entries become the property of the Betsuin. Winners will be announced at the 9:30 service on April 12, 2015, and winning entries will be displayed during the Betsuin Earth Day festivities on April 19, 2015. Permission to display, photograph and reprint is implied upon entering the contest. Failure to adhere to the aforementioned criteria will result in disqualification.
