In 1998, followers of the Jodo Shinshu Hongwanji-ha throughout
the world will commemorate the 500th Year Memorial Service for Rennyo Shonin(1415
- 1499), who has been called the Restorer of the Hongwanji and the Second
Founder of Shin Buddhism. During the thirteen sessions of this year's study
class, we will have the opportunity to learn more about the life and thought
of this dynamic historical figure. At the same time, we will discover how
Rennyo Shonin continues to teach and influence us today, in contemporary
American society.
Each session will be conducted by Rev. David Matsumoto
of the Institute of Buddhist Studies and will take place from 7:30 - 9:00
pm in the San Jose Betsuin meeting room. |
