In August, the Board retained the services of a fundraising consultant, Bruce Davis, to guide us through the process of raising the capital to make our vision for the Betsuin a reality. Bruce has worked in the nonprofit community of San Jose for 20 years and has helped raise $40 million dollars for arts and culture, including for San Jose Taiko, as well as the arts programs at Yu-Ai-Kai. The Board has every confidence that Bruce will do a great job in helping us move forward with our project. Bruce has established a timeline for us and we are working diligently to stay on track.
We asked Bruce to conduct a feasibility study so that we may gain direct insight and input from our Sangha. The interviews have been completed and twenty-eight Sangha members from a wide variety of demographics were interviewed. Through the feasibility interview, the interviewees learned more about the project and were able to give direct input into its development and success of the campaign. Based on the responses to the questions from the consultant, the Board will be making an informed decision about how to proceed with the campaign. No interview responses will be linked to anyone’s names, but each interview will be extremely important in going forward with the project.
We are extremely grateful to those who participated in this very important step.
